Veron Urdǎrianu (1951, Romania) is a sculptor and painter, based in Amsterdam. In his work, he uses existing images and familiar forms that he places in a new context. His sculptures have architectural, playful shapes and suggest multifunctional possibilities. In his paintings, he makes use of perspective and sallow color gradients to extract the image from its original context to give them a new significance. The totality of his work creates a Utopia of ‘active houses’ in which shifts, movement and transformation are important elements. Urdǎrianu studied Sculpture at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy from which he graduated in 1976.

“Temporary Living Units” challenge the traditional form of buildings by being ‘houses of the mind’, adapted towards the necessities of the residents.
