Marwan Bassiouni (b. 1985, CH) is a photographer and visual artist
In his photography, Marwan Bassiouni currently explores the subject of identity in Dutch society. This is most visible in his series New Dutch Views, in which he photographed Dutch landscapes from inside several Mosques. Prior to becoming a photographer, Marwan worked at a human rights NGO, focussing on the Middle East. While working at the NGO, he discovered the impact of photography on social, political and economic issues.
Bassiouni’s work has recently been exhibited at Aperture, Paris Photo, Fotomuseum Winterthur and Unseen Photo Fair Amsterdam. Solo exhibitions of the series New Dutch Views have been held at Fotomuseum Den Haag, The Hague and SKB Galerie, Amsterdam. His work can be found in the collections of Kunstmuseum Den Haag, International Center of Photography, New York and the Menzis Art Collection.
