Liv Liberg (1992, NL) is an Amsterdam-based photographer. Her affinity with photography started at the age of 10, when she began to photograph her friends and her younger sister Britt. Liberg was directing a game in which she and her models played with fashion and dressing up. This child's play grew into a passion that evolved over the next 15 years. The photos of her sister became an archive capturing a girl becoming a young woman, developing an awareness of herself and the world outside of her. Over these years, Liberg directed her sister in various settings often wearing their mother’s clothes. This archive now became Liberg's first photo-book titled ‘Sister Sister’, published by Art Paper Editions. Her book is a coming-of-age biography of sisters, with one sister being behind the camera and the other in front.
Liberg graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2017. Since then, she has been published in several magazines, received a grant for publications and a grant for Young Talent from the Mondriaan Fund, is part of FotoFestival Naarden and showcases at Art Rotterdam. She will have a debut solo show at Multiplemadé gallery called ‘Sister Sister’, where she will showcase the archive as well as the publication. The book Sister Sister (APE), will be available in the gallery.
